Addition with Regrouping

Base ten blocks enable students to interact with computation in a multi-sensory way. Our lesson began with a review of the traditional algorithm for addition with regrouping, i.e. carrying. To make the concept less abstract, and to provide deeper meaning, we traded units (ones blocks) for longs (tens blocks) to visualize what it means to carry.
