It was a prosperous day digging in the creek! Miners also enjoyed making kazoos, square dancing, singing songs, building candles, decorating tin pans, and playing games at today's Gold Rush Day.

Gold!
Word is spreading that James Marshall discovered gold on the American River! The Smarties settled a mining camp in California and our simulated learning will begin next week. Learning will also be inspired as we continue the book, What Was the Gold Rush?
