Gold! Gold From the American River!
In 1849, James Marshall declared, "Boys, I believe I found a gold mine!" The message spread to all corners of the continent sparking one of the largest mass migrations in American history. 3C scholars heard quotes from James Marshall and other primary sources today as we began our next thematic unit: The Gold Rush.
