Welcome to the 2010-2011 School Year!

Students and Parents,
August 25 is quickly approaching and with it comes the start of another exciting school year! I hope that you all enjoyed a relaxing and fun filled summer like we did. Mrs. Taglia is new to town which called for a lot of unpacking, but now the dust has settled and she is thrilled to be joining the Columbus Academy staff after 7 years of teaching in the state of Illinois. Mrs. Miller will be back for another year teaching third grade at Columbus Academy. She has been very busy preparing for her new puppy and we look forward to seeing a lot of pictures of her new pet!

Third grade offers many exciting units of study. We will engage in novel units while we learn more about friendship, geometry and geography. The California gold rush is another topic we will focus on together. Imagine spending your days baking in the hot mountain sun while panning for gold! Our research skills will also grow as we prepare for the third grade Wax Museum later in the school year. We work hard in third grade, but we have a lot of fun doing it!

We look forward to meeting all of you as we embark on this educational journey together. Don't forget to bring in a summer souvenir on the first day of school and we hope to see you at the Columbus Academy bus circle on August 23, 5pm for Meet the Teacher Night.
Truly,
Mrs. Taglia and Mrs. Miller
